On the Street

I am on vacation this week am taking a one-week class at MECA in street photography. Interesting stuff. So here is some more street photography, and there is plenty more to come.

West End Deli on Spring and Park Streets:

This picture below is the Maine Bank & Trust building next to Congress Square. According to the emporis database, the  building is also known as the Fidelity Trust Company Building and the  Bank of Commerce Building. I didn't realize this until I saw the new signs in the window of the building yesterday, but Maine Bank & Trust is no more. It is now People's United Bank (which MB&T has been part of for several years). So they are repainting the name at the top of the building. I like that when big signs like this one are updated because it allows you  to easily identify the age of photographs.

Summer in a City

Portland's pirate ship is still in town (I think it's the same boat, correct me if I am wrong). No, my camera isn't broken, I was just playing around in photoshop:

Resting on the Eastern Prom:

And  this was today's sunrise from my kitchen, pretty interesting:

Green Elephant

Green Elephant is a vegetarian bistro with an Asian-influenced cuisine. It is located at 608 Congress Street, across from the State Theater.

And this is a picture of a green dinosaur on the side of a building on Free Street.

You Are So Brave!

This first photo shows the current exhibit  in the Space Gallery front window. The art is by Seokmee Noh, and you  can learn much more about it and see a close up picture of it here

And this photo also has people standing in  front of bricks, waiting  to get into Marcy's Diner on the corner of Free and Oak Streets. I haven't been here yet but I like the location.

Monument Square Farmers Market

Here's some photos from last  week's Wednesday Farmers Market in Monument Square. I'm usually at work when these markets happen but I had the day off. It certainly was bigger and better than I recall from previous visits. In addition to the food and flowers there are several arts and crafts vendors and the booths even spread down towards Free Street a little ways (to the  right of  this first picture). For  more info about  the Farmers Market, which is in Monument Square on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7-2 and in Deering Oaks on Saturdays from 7-12:
